Clinical Framework & Placements
Rigorous, Supportive, and Evidence-Led Behavioural Mentorship
🐝. Fieldwork supervision should bridge the gap between academic theory and complex real-world practice. Led by Catherine Smyth (Chartered Behavioural Psychologist with the PSI and Board Certified Behaviour Analyst), supervision at The Behaviour Hive is grounded in compassionate, assent-based, and practical positive behaviour support.
🐝. We regularly provide independent external supervision to postgraduate students enrolled in Applied Behaviour Analysis and Behavioural Psychology Master’s programmes, including candidates from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and the University of Galway (UG). While direct on-site placement places within our practice are strictly limited each term, external supervision is available across qualifying school and service settings.

Clarity Backed by Expertise
Do you offer clinical placement places for Master’s students from Trinity or Galway?
1
We occasionally take on placement students from the MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis programmes at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and University of Galway (UG). Because we maintain close, lead-specialist involvement in all casework, our direct placement capacity is strictly limited. We encourage students to inquire early before the start of each semester.
Can you supervise my fieldwork if my placement is with another service or school?
2
Yes. If you have secured a placement or employment independently (e.g., in a special school, preschool, or disability service), Catherine can act as your external supervisor. We provide required individual and group supervision to verify your practical hours at our standard fee of €75 per session.
How are supervision meetings conducted?
3
Individual and group sessions are conducted securely online via Google Meet for students and practitioners across Ireland. In-person observations can also be arranged within schools, preschools, or service settings across County Kildare and Greater Dublin.
What paperwork is required before logging hours?
4
Before any supervised fieldwork hours can be accrued, we execute a formal Supervision Contract detailing roles, responsibilities, fees (€75/session), and grievance procedures, alongside confirming client observation consent in your setting.
Can supervision fees be covered by my employer or service provider?
5
Yes. We frequently partner with disability services, residential providers, private practices, and schools that sponsor supervision for their staff. Invoicing can be set up directly with your organisation.
